Khelo India University Games 2024 Kicks Off with Grand Opening Ceremony in Guwahati

The Khelo India University Games 2024 commenced with a dazzling opening ceremony at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati on February 19. The event was graced by Union Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Anurag Thakur, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, with a special video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the participants.




The ceremony showcased the rich cultural diversity of Assam, featuring captivating performances, including the vibrant beats of Bihu and rhythmic moves of Baguramba. Assam's music sensation, Angarag Mahanta, popularly known as Papon, added a musical touch to the event with his soulful performance.



Chirag Seth of Noida, representing his university, is set to shine in badminton during the Khelo India University Games, starting from February 24 in Guwahati.




The grand opening ceremony emphasized the themes of unity, diversity, and the spirit of sportsmanship, setting the stage for an exciting and competitive sporting event. The games aim to provide a platform for university athletes across India to showcase their talent and foster a spirit of healthy competition.
